ParcelMole is a small Maryland company, founded by Alex Levine. We help homeowners and builders understand what the public zoning code allows on their lots, and every answer points back to the official text.
For builders and architects
Type an address. ParcelMole finds the parcel, reads the zoning from the county or town's own map, and applies the local rules as written. You get:
- A verdict on an accessory dwelling, with the reason named whenever it is not a clean yes.
- The main house's buildable envelope: setbacks, lot coverage and height, where we have them.
- A drawn worksheet of the lot you can print, every figure cited to its code section.
- Every property you look up, saved in one place.
Public data only: public GIS and published local code. No HOA or covenant rules, no field conditions. A first-pass site analysis, not a survey or legal advice.
Why ParcelMole
Every builder knows the question: can I build on this lot? Answering it means finding the parcel, the zoning and the town's own rules, then reading the code. That can take hours, often before you know the client is serious.
I watched a builder client hit exactly that wall: more inquiries than they could qualify. So I built ParcelMole. A year went into matching addresses to the right parcel, and months more into the local rules, each one cited so you can check it yourself.
I'm Alex Levine. I trained as a lawyer, earned an MBA, and I love rules and systems. ParcelMole is a research tool, not legal advice. It does the digging so you can get to the conversations that matter.
Join the pilot
We are working with a small group of builders and architects in a free pilot through December 31, 2026. Tell us where you build and we will set you up.

- We work from adopted codes and posted maps. Reports cite your ordinance, never staff, and never present a reply as an official opinion.
- Every report says it is not legal or permitting advice and tells the reader to verify the requirements with the town or county.
- If we read your rules wrong, one line is enough. We'll review it and fix it.
